Vincent de Paul Draddy was a three-sport standout at Manhattan College, playing football, basketball and golf. A standout quarterback, he was elected to the College Fooball Hall of Fame, before later serving as the Chairman of the National Football Foundation. The Vincent de Paul Draddy Trophy, now known as the William V. Campbell Trophy, is awarded by the National Football Foundation and is given to the American college football player with the best combination of academics, community service and on-field performance. It is considered by many to be the "Academic Heisman." The gymnasium is named after his wife and their first son, Vincent Jr.
