Bob Mealy was a standout performer for the men's basketball team. He helped lead the Jaspers to a 44-27 record from 1957-60, as well as to berths in the 1958 NCAA Tournament and the 1959 NIT. Mealy was the fifth player in program history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark, and as a senior in 1959-60 served as a team captain en route to averaging 20.9 points and 14.7 rebounds per game. Mealy established program standards of 51 points against CCNY and 28 rebounds vs. Adelphi. All told, he totaled 1,028 points in his career, averaging 17.1 ppg, despite playing in only 60 games. Following graduation, Mealy was drafted by the Philadelphia Warriors in the 1960 NBA Draft.
