Scored more points than any other hurdler/ runner during his four years as a member of the Jaspers' track and field team. Posted 16 individual first-place finishes. Won nine of 11 races as a junior. Won three Metropolitan titles and set four meet records. Finished third in the 60-yard high hurdles at the 1939 Indoor IC4A Championships as Manhattan won the team title.
