He averaged 25.7 points per game in 1963-64, then tallied 23.5 points per contest during the 1964-65 season. The Jaspers reached the quarterfinals of the NIT in 1964-65, after they defeated Texas Western in the first round. Lembo was selected by the New York Knicks in the fourth round of the 1965 NBA Draft and the Chicago White Sox in the 26th round of the 1965 MLB Draft, playing two seasons of professional baseball. Following his playing career, he had a distinguished career as a college basketball official, working four NCAA Final Fours as a referee (1980, 1983, 1988, 1989). A 50-year educator at Queensborough Community College, he also earned inclusion into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame and the MAAC Hall of Fame.
