Irving Kintisch served as an assistant coach for the track and field program in charge of the field events at Manhattan for 23 years from 1950-69 and 1976-80. During his time in Riverdale, Kintisch oversaw the development of Kenny Bantum, the 1956 NCAA outdoor shot put champion, and Bob Mead, the 1966 indoor hammer champion. Under his watch, he also mentored 22 IC4A champions and 145 Metropolitan champions. Kintisch served as the President of the IC4A and Metropolitan Track Coaches Associations, and represented thee United States as an assistant coach in 1971 against the Soviet Union, and in 1975 against China. Kintisch also was the Head Coach of the United States in the Maccabi games in Israel in 1957 and 1969.
