One of the great multi-sport athletes in Manhattan College history, Arthur "Artie" Orlando will be joining the Manhattan College Athletic Hall of Fame as a part of the class of 2019. Orlando was a member of both the basketball and baseball teams. While Orlando's time with the Jaspers may have been short, his impact was most definitely felt. As a senior in 1960-61, he scored 20 points against UConn, before helping lead Manhattan to an 82-76 win over Syracuse University at Madison Square Garden. He capped his two-year career on the hardwood by averaging 9.2 points per game in his final year, before earning All-Metropolitan Basketball team honors. A standout on the diamond, he was offered a professional contract by the St. Louis Cardinals following his senior year but chose to pursue a career in the educational field. Orlando worked at Clarkstown South High School as a teacher and principal while also serving as a coach of the basketball team, before passing away suddenly in 1974 at the age of 36. In 1980, he was posthumously inducted into Rockland County Hall of Fame for his work in the community.
