Frank Crowley was Manhattan's first-ever Olympian and NCAA Champion. He placed eighth in the 1500 meters at 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, after qualifying with a second-place finish at the United States National Championship, which also doubled as the Olympic Trials. After returning to Manhattan, he concluded his collegiate career by claiming the two-mile title at the 1934 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Crowley then won the 5000 meters with a time of 15:18.6 at the 1934 United States National Championships.
