Dick Murphy earned All-Metropolitan honors in all three years he played from 1940-43. During that time, Murphy helped lead the Jaspers to a 39-20 mark, and captained Manhattan's 1942-43 squad to the program's first-ever NIT berth and an 18-3 record. Murphy would go on to become an original member of the New York Knicks in 1946-47, before being traded to the Boston Celtics.
