Manhattan University Athletic Hall of Fame
Pontus Lundkvist will join the Manhattan College Hall of Fame Class of 2019 following an outstanding career as a member of the men's track & field program. One of the top decathletes in program history, Lundkvist finished 12th at the 1999 NCAA Outdoor Championships with 7,227 points. Earlier in the year, he announced his presence on the national stage at the 1999 Sea Ray Relays, defeating US Olympian Tom Pappas to win the decathlon title. An exceptional athlete, Lundkvist routinely scored in six to eight events at the conference meets, was the IC4A Indoor Pentathlon and 1999 IC4A Outdoor Decathlon Champion and was a three-time Metropolitan Champion and conference record holder in Pentathlon. A standout in the classroom, he won New York Lottery/MAAC Outstanding Student-Athlete Award. This award is given to the student athlete who excels in both their athletic performances and their academic accomplishments. Lundkvist graduated from Manhattan with a degree in finance, and served as the president of the Economic and Finance Society.
