Manhattan University Athletic Hall of Fame
A member of the Manhattan Men's Tennis team, Smith was named the Jasper's Most Valuable Player in his last two seasons. Having lost only two matches his junior year, he improved on that record and went undefeated as a senior. The team also went undefeated in conference play that year and won the Suburban West Conference. Upon the completion of his senior year, Smith was offered the first tennis scholarship at Manhattan. Smith instead took a full-time position working for Weeden & Company. Smith competed for years after Manhattan and was nationally ranked for ten years in platform tennis. He was also ranked in the Top 25 for three consecutive years in the Men's Open Eastern Tennis Association.
