Riverdale, N.Y. — Brad Bolton will return to the Manhattan women's soccer program as an assistant coach, head coach Brendan Lawler announced. Bolton previously served on Lawler's staff for five seasons from 2016 to 2021 — three of which he undertook as associate head coach.
"We are very lucky to have a coach of Brad's caliber returning to the program," said Lawler. "In his previous tenure on staff he was an integral part of deep playoff runs and more importantly to the overall development of our players."
During his first stint with the program, Bolton helped bring Manhattan women's soccer to heights they hadn't reached in a long time. In 2017, Manhattan reached the MAAC Championship Game with Bolton on staff. That season, the Jaspers also produced a program high in goals scored (33) in MAAC play bolstered by the efforts of MAAC Offensive Player of the Year Erica Modena. The program followed that up with their second best goals against average in 2018, conceding a measly 1.15 goals per game.
"I'm very excited to be back with the Manhattan women's soccer program and help our student athletes achieve their soccer, academic, and career goals," said Bolton. "I also want to thank director of athletics Irma Garcia and head coach Brendan Lawler for this opportunity to continue to strengthen the reputation of our program."
With Bolton on staff, Manhattan garnered 10 All-MAAC selections and 67 All-MAAC Academic Team honorees. Additionally, the program was honored with an NSCAA Team Academic Award for their efforts in the classroom.
"Brad has contributed immensely to our women's soccer program over the years and I am excited to have him return to his role as assistant coach," said Director of Athletics Irma Garcia. "Working alongside Coach Lawler, Brad will be instrumental to the success of our student-athletes both on and off the field."
Before arriving at Manhattan in 2016, Bolton served as interim head coach for the Iona women's soccer program in 2015. He spent two seasons with Gaels, and prior to that made assistant coaching stops at Concordia College and Central Methodist University. Bolton has also assisted with the New York Magic and New York Rush Patriots club teams.
Over the past three seasons, Bolton had served as an assistant coach for the Yale women's soccer program.
Bolton is a graduate of Central Methodist where he earned four letters on the men's soccer team. He was a two-time captain for the Eagles and was named Team MVP for the 2004 season.
