Amaya Hill Leads MAAC, 2nd in NCAA in Assists

Amaya Hill Recaps 2025 Season Leading MAAC In Assists

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - As the 2025 campaign came to a finish last week, certain numbers stood out for the Jaspers once the curtain finally closed. Redshirt Junior forward Amaya Hill finished the season with 12 assists, a shining number for a variety of reasons.

Good enough for second across the entire nation, Hill's ability to put the ball in scoring position for her teammates made history in both the Manhattan and MAAC realms. The mark ties the single-season record set by Courtney McMahon in 2006, leading the conference as well.

"It was really cool that I got to get up the record book. I passed my high school coach [Kristin Stroppel's eight in 2001] to get there, and I used to always joke with her that I was coming for her record! It means a lot to finish a goal like that," said Hill.

Three of her 18 starts saw the West Point, N.Y. native tally a pair of assists, including in big wins against Iona and Mount St. Mary's in the midst of conference play.

"With a lot of new people coming in, this season was about finding the flow of things, which I think we did towards the end of the year. It was fun watching everything start to come together to click," Hill continued.

Hill's right hand this season came in the form of Junior midfielder Olivia McMaster, who saw a lot more time in the offensive front throughout 2025, leading the team in goals with six.

"Liv was mostly in the midfield last season, but with her becoming more of an offensive player, for me it was about finding the right combination of things for us to be successful," Hill stated on her teammate.

When asked on what Hill's milestone meant for the program, Head Coach Brendan Lawler remarked, "Amaya has come a very long way from freshman year including overcoming an injury in her sophomore season. Her junior year, it started to click on how she needed to play to be impactful. She started to get in behind more and realized her serving ability from out wide was her biggest competitive advantage. This year, whether in the run of play or from set pieces, she was able to help so many teammates score more goals than they had before. It was great to see her personal growth have such a positive impact on the team overall."
