RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan College senior midfielder
Sami Derrico has been named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women's Soccer Academic All-District Team.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
A four-year member of the Jasper squad, Derrico, a team captain, has a 3.71 in exercise science. Derrcio started 9 out of 14 games and was a key contributor for Manhattan, who went 4-7-4. Away form the playing field, Derrico serves on the SAAC Executive Board and is the SAAC Social Media Chair. She's a multiple Dean's List and MAAC All-Academic Team honoree. A native of Harrington Park, N.J., Derrico led Manhattan in goals scored (3) and points (9).
Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
