Emma Saul (Orchard Park, NY / Orchard Park) scored the lone goal in the 72nd minute to lift Manhattan to a hard-fought 1-0 win over NJIT at Gaelic Park.
With the victory, the Jaspers snap their four-match losing streak in concluding non-conference play with a 2-5 record as the Highlanders fall to 4-2-2.
Playing huge roles on defense for Manhattan was freshman goalkeeper
Olivia Printy (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL / St. Joseph Academy) and senior
Lauren Barton (Charlton, MA / Shepard Hill). Printy tied her career-high with six saves in recording her first career shutout while Barton paced a back line that thwarted numerous NJIT opportunities.
The Highlanders owned a 16-12 advantage on shots, including 6-4 on goal, and had an impressive goal off a Nicole Baldassini corner kick nullified due to an on offside call.
Karen David made three saves in defeat for NJIT.
Manhattan returns to action on Saturday, September 17 at 11:00 am against Niagara in the MAAC opener for both teams.
Notes: * The goal was the second of Saul's' career.
 * Saul's score also snapped the Jaspers' scoreless drought that had spanned 444:48.
 * Manhattan is 4-0, all-time, against NJIT and has never yielded a Highlander goal.
 * The Women's Lacrosse Team supported former Jasper
Kaitlyn Cunningham's mother's foundation that benefits 9/11 victims and their families at the game as each member in attendance wore a “Team Shamrock” shirt.
 * Cunningham (below) participated in the annual “Day Of Remembrance” in New York City earlier in the morning.
