 Head coach Brendan Lawler recently sat down with the Jasper Sports Network (JSN) in the Marro Broadcast Studio to talk about Manhattan's most-recent 1-0 victory at Hartford while previewing the week ahead.


Last Week
The Jaspers bested the defending America East Regular Season Champion Hartford 1-0 on Sunday after dropping a 2-0 decision to Fordham on Friday..

With The Win Over Hartford …
* Manhattan improved to 2-0 this year against teams from the America East and is 3-0 over the last two seasons.
* Evened the all-time series at one win apiece as the Hawks claimed the previous match-up by a 3-0 score on September 17, 2004.
* Junior Lizzy Carlson (Auburn, MA / Auburn) notched her fifth career goal and the first game-winning tally of her career while sophomore Nicole Aylmer's (Garnerville, NY / North Rockland) assist was her first career point.

Skonieczny Notches 10th Career Shut Out
Senior goalie Kristen Skonieczny (Lagrangeville, NY / Arlington) recorded her 16th career win, including her 10th shutout, with four saves in Sunday's triumph in West Hartford. This season, she has a 0.67 GAA while posting an .875 save percentage.

This Week ...
The Jaspers will look to make it two in a row when they make the short trek to NJIT on Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 pm before traveling to Lafayette on Sunday, September 6 with kickoff slated for 1:00 pm.

* Manhattan holds a 2-0-0 edge in the all-time series
* The Jaspers won last year's match by a 1-0 score as senior Emily Ude (Babylon, NY / North Babylon) found Aislinn McIlvenny for the eventual winner in Newark.
* Manhattan outshot NJIT by a 15-2 count, including 8-1 in shots on goal, while posting a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
* The Highlanders are in their first year as members of the Atlantic Sun.

About NJIT
The Highlanders are 2-1, having bested Metro Atlantic Athletic Conferenc (MAAC) foes Saint Peter's and Iona while losting to Monmouth. Neema Liverpool leads the squad with three goals and Samantha Bersett has a 1.2 GAA while posting a .824 save percentage.

* Lafayette holds a 6-5 advantage in the all-time series with eight meetings decided by one goal apiece.

About Lafayette
The Leopards are a perfect 2-0 this year, having bested Delaware State and Saint Peter's via shutout and will face Monmouth on Thursday, September 3. Lafayette is led by Melissa Lynskey, who has has three goals.
