Riverdale, NY –
 Manhattan (4-3) opens up Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play with a 12:00 pm tilt against Canisius (2-5-2) on Saturday, September 19 at Gaelic Park. Head Coach Brendan Lawler recently sat down with the Jasper Sports Network (JSN) in the Marro Broadcast Studio to discuss this weekend's match-up.

Last Week

The Jaspers saw their three-match winning streak snapped with a pair of one-goal losses at Columbia and at Delaware State. Despite the setbacks, Manhattan concluded its season-long five-match road trip with a record of 3-2.

Non-Conference Success
For the second-straight season, the Jaspers posted a winning record during non-conference play, finishing up with a 4-3 ledger.

First On A Free Kick
Sophomore Nicole Aylmer (Garnerville, NY / North Rockland), the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week after serving as a goalie in wins over NJIT and Lafayette, notched her first collegiate goal on a 35-yard free kick at Delaware State.

Tops In The MAAC
Junior Erica Modena (Massapequa, NY / Massapequa) is tied for the MAAC lead in goals (5) and goals per game (.714) with Haillie Price of Niagara while ranking second in points per game (1.43). Additionally, senior Kristen Skonieczny (Lagrangeville, NY / Arlington) is first in save percentage with a .880 mark.

Nationally Streaking

On a national level, Manhattan ranks 32nd in shutout percentage (.571), 52nd in save percentage (.848) and 55th in Goals-Against Average (.714) - all of which pace the MAAC.

MAAC/Home Openers
The Jaspers are 7-13-3, all-time, in MAAC openers and 8-13-2 in MAAC home openers.

Manhattan-Canisius Notes
* The Golden Griffins won last year's match-up by a 3-0 count.
* Canisius leads the all-time series by a 13-8-2 count, with the teams deadlocked at 5-5-1 when playing in Riverdale.
* Manhattan won the last meeting between the teams at Gaelic Park by a 2-1 count as senior Sam Washuk (Milford, CT / Joseph A. Foran) assisted on the eventual game-winner.

* This will be the third time the Jaspers have opened MAAC play against their Buffalo-based rivals.
