RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan women's soccer team carries its momentum from a successful three game road series into two home matches this weekend at Gaelic Park. The Lady Jaspers will host Fordham (0-6-1) on Friday night for the 20th meeting all-time between the programs, a cross-Bronx rivalry which began in 1991. Then on Sunday, Manhattan (3-3-0) will host Wagner (1-4-0). Fans can watch both contests live at GoJaspers.com .
The Lady Jaspers have won two of their last three games, which included a thrilling victory at Fairleigh Dickinson on Sept. 6 and a solid performance at Cornell last Sunday. Junior forward Caroline Morse provided the game winning goals in both contests.
At Fairleigh Dickinson, Morse assisted seniors Courtney McMahon and Alexandra Konneker for the Lady Jaspers' first two scores, before notching decisive goal in the 79th minute to earn a 3-2 win.
Morse continued her hot scoring streak at Cornell as she helped guide Manhattan to a 1-0 triumph. In the 22nd minute she paired up with McMahon for her team leading fifth goal of the year. The assist also represented McMahon's team leading third of the season and 22nd of her career. Freshman goalkeeper Kara Davis was brilliant in net as she collected four saves to preserve the first shutout of her collegiate career.
Manhattan will kick off with Fordham at 7 p.m. on Friday. The Lady Jaspers are 9-9-1 all time versus the Rams, but have not defeated Fordham since 2005. Manhattan's contest with Wagner is set for 10 a.m. The Lady Jaspers hold a 10-3-1 series advantage over the Seahawks. Last season, Manhattan and Wagner battled to a 1-1 tie in Staten Island.
