Riverdale, N.Y. (Novemeber 9, 2007)- The MAAC Women's Soccer postseason awards were announced last night at the MAAC awards banquet. Sophomore back Jill Beauchamp was selected Second Team All-MAAC, in voting conducted by the conference's head coaches. In addition, 12 Lady Jaspers were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
Beauchamp helped anchor a Lady Jasper defensive unit that ranked among the best in the MAAC. Consistently relied upon to mark the opposition's top offensive threat, the Westerly, R.I. native was a threat in the air as well as with her feet. The back played an integral role as Manhattan posted a school record six consecutive shutouts, and went 615:42 without allowing a goal, also a program record. The sophomore also recorded a goal in the Lady Jaspers' win over Holy Cross.
The 12 Lady Jaspers named to the MAAC All-Academic team were: Beauchamp, Tracey Colantonio, Meghan Dobson, Brittany Duhamel, Amanda Fischer, Courtney Hughes, Alexandra Konneker, Jaclyn Levie, Viviane Masters, Amanda McCormick, Courtney McMahon, and Laura Thurston. Manhattan ha the most student-athletes recognized as MAAC All-Academic.
The Lady Jaspers end the season with an overall record of 7-7-4 (4-4-1 MAAC) to finish at .500 or better for the second straight season, the first time this has been accomplished in the history of the program.
