Peters Propels Women's Golf to Second Place Finish at Panther Battle at the Bay

OCEANSIDE, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Golf team competed in The Panther Battle at the Bay, hosted by Adelphi University, from The Golf Club at Middle Bay on Monday and Tuesday afternoons.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Opening the program's first local tournament on Long Island were the Green and White, who started slower than they wanted on a blustery, crisp Monday morning. None affected Jayden Peters and Maddison Long, who each opened the first hole with a birdie on the Par Four.
  • Down the stretch of the first round, the Jaspers stabilized their run, with all six golfers sinking par or better. Nawel Ben Letaief concluded the front nine with a Par Five eagle down the stretch.
  • On the back nine, Peyton "Beans" Factor performed exceptionally with seven pars consecutively, while Letaief finished her round with back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes, respectively.
  • Marching into the second day with a share of the lead were the Jaspers. Peters and Factor continued their run on the front side with five combined birdies, with Maddison Long joining with a sixth hole Par Three birdie.
  • Throughout the back nine, the Jaspers struggled down the stretch with Giana Zinke finding her rhythm after a tough 10th and 11th holes, to carry the Jaspers through the remaining six holes, including a 17th hole birdie.
  • On the 18th green, the Jaspers' hopes came down to Peters and Factor, who both sank par, but Franklin Pierce's two birdies were the difference to take home the title.

QUOTES FROM THE JASPERS

Head Coach Keith Prokop: "Heading into the MAAC, there is a lot of good to take away. Jayden [Peters] has really come into form this semester. Beans [Factor] had a nice round for herself, reminding herself of what she is capable of. We have some cleaning up to do before next, but I know we will be in a good place come time for our first rodeo."

NEXT UP

The Jaspers finish out their 2025-26 season in the Sunshine State on Tuesday, April 21, and Wednesday, April 22, when the Green and White take part in the 2026 MAAC Women's Golf Championships from Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista.
