TEANECK, NJ – The Manhattan Jaspers Baseball team (6-8, 1-2 MAAC) was upended by the Knights of FDU (5-6, 2-1 NEC) by a score of 15-12 inside the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After falling behind in the home half of the third, the Jaspers responded in the top of the fourth with a Trevor Hansen double to center to drive home Justin Best.
- The next batter featured Danny Infante, who supplied a sacrifice fly to straight away center to bring home Hunter Sute for the team's second run, who had previously singled through the right side.
- In the top half of the sixth with the Knights ahead by as much as eight, the comeback was on for the Green and White with Sute posting a solo home run to right field for the team's third run.
- After Hansen and Jackson Babione logged singles, Dylan Mayer doubled down the left field line two batters later to drive home the duo to cut their deficit in half.
- Next batter saw Guriyandel Salva singling to right field to drive home Babione for the team's sixth run.
- In the visiting half of the seventh after Best and Sute worked walks, Hansen doubled down the left field line to drive home Best. Then, Infante singled up the middle to cut FDU's lead even closer to just two runs.
- In the next inning, the Jaspers tied the game up with a two-run blast from Justin Best.
- The Knights added five runs in the home half of the eighth before the rally caps came on for Jaspers in the top of the ninth, with Guriyandel Salva sending a base knock into left field to drive home Colin Basehore.
STATS AND NOTES
- Infielder Trevor Hansen went 3-for-5 with two RBI's and a run scored that featured a pair of doubles.
- Infielder Guriyandel Salva went 2-for-6 with two RBI's.
- Outfielder Payton Matthews provided a 2-for-5 afternoon, with one walk and one run.
- Outfielder Justin Best smashed a two-run blast on a 1-for-2 day, crossed the plate three times, had two RBI's, and worked two walks.
- Infielder Jackson Babione went 2-for-3 with one run scored.
