Lewis, Sute Tabbed to MAAC Baseball All-Second Team

EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced the 2026 Baseball postseason awards, as voted by the league's 13 coaches. For the Manhattan Jaspers, graduate catcher Andreaus Lewis and designated hitter Hunter Sute were both selected to the All-MAAC Second Team per release on Tuesday morning.

"These selections reflect the standard both Andreaus [Lewis] and Hunter [Sute] committed to every single day," described Head Coach Steven Rosen.

Andreaus Lewis was tabbed to the All-MAAC Second Team after posting a career year donning the Green and White. The Atlanta, GA native led the MAAC in batting average at .380, starting 45 games and playing in 47 overall.

Additionally, Lewis posted 171 at-bats, while tallying 65 hits, crossing the plate 31 times, 13 doubles, 10 home runs, one triple, and 39 RBIs. All of which were new career highs for the graduate.

Lewis's total of 24 strikeouts at the dish, were a career low, followed by tying his career high in stolen bases with three. His on-base percentage continued to increase, reaching a best .454, propelled by a 31-game on-base streak that started on March 10 against FDU and ended against the Iona Gaels on May 14.

Some of the season bests for Lewis included a four-hit performance in the effort against the Niagara Purple Eagles on May 10 from inside Gaelic Park, with two runs scored, and a season high five RBIs. Lewis also hit the first triple of his Manhattan career against Dartmouth on May 2.

Historically, Lewis joined his teammate Trevor Hansen with double-digit home runs, with 10 on the year, highlighted by a two-home run afternoon against the Siena Saints on Friday, April 10, and became the first Jasper duo in over a decade to supply 10 or more round-trippers in a single season.

Finally, in the MAAC, Lewis finished the regular season with the highest overall batting average with a .380, while finishing 10th in hits, 13th in doubles, fifth in on-base percentage, second in slugging percentage, fourth in total bases, second in OPS, 18th in RBIs, and was one of seven home run hitters in the conference.

Hunter Sute, who has been the Jaspers' primary designated hitter since arriving in Riverdale, was recognized as the All-MAAC Second Team Designated Hitter selection after posting a .331 average in 39 games started and 42 appearances.

Additionally, the Alabama transfer and catcher crossed the plate 31 times, added 49 hits, 13 doubles, two triples, four round-trippers, 31 RBIs, and eclipsed his .405 slugging total to finish 2026 with a .527 clip and a .415 on-base percentage.

This season, the Tuscaloosa, Alabama, product posted the best individual game of his career with a five-hit performance, three doubles, one triple, four runs scored, and five RBIs in the commanding victory over the Columbia Lions on Wednesday, March 25.

"Both earned this through relentless work, consistency, and the way they competed for this program all season long.

Penultimately, Sute posted a six-game hitting streak three games into the season, spanning the month of February into March, before ending the campaign with back-to-back two-hit games in efforts against the Jaspers' crosstown rival, the Iona Gaels, on May 15 and 16.

Finally, within the MAAC ranks, Sute was tied for 14th in batting average with Mount St. Mary's Ty Fredo with a .331 clip. He also ended in the top 20 with a .942 OPS.

"To do what they did offensively while also giving us great efforts defensively at the catcher position is particularly noteworthy. We're very proud of them."
