SEATTLE, WASH. - Manhattan Women's
Volleyball team (1-3) fell in its match against Seattle Pacific (0-0) by a score of (20-25, 22-25, 21-25), inside Royal Brougham Pavillion on Tuesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Freshman Helenn Montilla got Manhattan started, registering a kill for the first point of the match.
- After tying at 8-8, Seattle Pacific ripped off five consecutive points, including two service aces.
- Despite the Jaspers coming back to within one at 21-20, four straight from the Falcons ended the first set.
- More of the same continued in the second, with Seattle Pacific stretching an early lead out to 13-5.
- A combined block from Juniors Emilia Kuzniar and Abby Morreale shortened the deficit to 21-20 in set two, later narrowly lost 25-22.
- More hot starts for the Falcons led to a quick 9-3 advantage in the decisive set, a mark they didn't let get within four until Manhattan's 21st point.
STATS & NOTES:
- Junior outside hitter Katie Powers hit at a .455 clip and led the squad in kills with 12, the latter a new season-high.
- Freshman Emma Francesconi trailed shortly behind with eight kills of her own, on top of 26 total attacks.
- Senior libero Teresa Garza racked up nine digs, while Emily Kuzniar spread the wealth with 19 assists.
- Manhattan's best hitting percentage came in the third, when they clocked a .423 off 13 combined kills.

The Green and White return to action on Thursday, September 4, when Manhattan begins the Seattle Invitational hosted by Seattle University. Their first matchup will be against Idaho, starting at 6:00 p.m. EDT.
