RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Soccer team (1-1-2) took home a draw tonight against the Blue Devils from Central Connecticut State (0-1-1) by a score of 1-1 on Thursday evening inside Gaelic Park.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Action was slow-paced for the first 14 minutes, when Junior midfielder Kaylee Stowell rattled off a pair of shots wide.
- Defense stood tall for much of the first half, with the Blue Devils' lone shot taking until the 33rd minute, saved by Freshman goalkeeper Julianna Mosca.
- Freshman forward Scarlett Smith had the Gaelic faithful on the edge of their seats twice, with solid opportunities saved in the 34th and 42nd minutes.
- Kaylee Stowell got the scoring started in the 61st minute, off a shot from the left side assisted by Junior forward Amaya Hill.
- Despite more immediate pressure from the Jaspers, Central Connecticut State quickly followed with the game-tying goal in the 65th minute.
- A Manhattan corner in the 85th once again made the tension rise, but it was quickly subdued by the Blue Devils to ensure the draw.
