RIVERDALE, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Soccer team (0-0-1) settled for a 1-1 draw against the Sharks of LIU (0-0-1) from Gaelic Park on Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Looking to build upon its double-digit victory season from a year ago, the Jaspers sprayed a pair of shots toward the Sharks keeper courtesy of Marlene Berlinghoff and Kaylee Stowell.
- Off the first corner kick of the match, Manhattan kept possession in the final third, where freshman Isabela Montesdeoca fired her first collegiate shot just wide.
- Midway through the first half, both programs were testing each goalkeeper with attempts in their direction, before Redshirt Junior forward Samantha D'Angelo found the back of the net for her first collegiate brace, and the teams' first of the campaign.
- Just under two minutes later, LIU tied the match up at one a piece off a corner kick.
- In the second half, the seesaw of momentum began shifting in favor of the opponent, with the first official shot for the Jaspers registered nearly 30 minutes into the stanza.
- With three minutes remaining, freshman goalkeeper Juliana Mosca would record her first collegiate save against LIU's Valdez.

QUOTES FROM THE JASPERS
Head Coach
Brendan Lawler: "I thought we competed well. We created a lot of good opportunities in the first half. I tink we got in behind well in the second half, but just didn't create the same opportunities, and unfortunately this is a game we chose, and they had a good shot on goal that they scored on. Tough from a results standpoint."
