RIVERDALE, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Soccer team (0-1-1) fell to the Black Knights of the United States Military Academy (1-1-0) by a score of 4-1 inside Gaelic Park on Sunday morning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Green and White got off to a hot offensive start with a pair of senior forward Amaya Hill shots that were saved by the Army goalkeeper.
- The Black Knights then put the pressure on the Jaspers on the other side of the pitch just minutes later, before finding the back of the net first.
- Manhattan faced five opponent shot attempts before Army posted another pair in a span of two minutes to make the widen the margin.
- Minutes later, the Jaspers found some momentum following a slew of substitutions, with freshman forward Scarlett Smith dribbled her way through the box and cut the lead to a pair with her first collegiate brace.
- Later in the match, defense was on full display for the Green and White, with freshman goalkeeper Juliana Mosca recording a pair of saves after an onslaught of attempts from the Black Knights littered the six-yard box, culminating with the third attempt going wide, and the Jaspers clearing.
