Riverdale, N.Y. — Alijah Curry has signed with Manhattan men's basketball program ahead of the 2024-2025 season, head coach John Gallagher announced. The 6-8 freshman is rated as a three-star recruit by 247sports.
"Alijah comes to us as a high motor and very skilled and extremely tough power forward that will give us great versatility that will be needed in a conference like the MAAC," said Gallagher.
Curry hails from Memphis, Tennessee and played high school basketball at Camden High School in New Jersey . Curry averaged 13.8 points per game for Camden this past season to go along with 8.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists. He was part of the Panthers' NJSIAA Group 2 Championship-winning team this past season. Camden has produced a plethora of talent in recent seasons, including Ohio State's Aaron Bradshaw and Arkansas' DJ Wagner. Curry transferred to Camden from East High School (TN) ahead of the 2023-2024 high school season.
Curry chose Manhattan over offers from Memphis, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss and Radford.
"Alijah has some unique qualities, one of them being a special teammate," Gallagher said. "He really knows how to lift his teammates up and we expect him to do the same for the Jaspers."
Curry is the second freshman to be announced from Manhattan's 2024 recruiting class, joining 6-9 Will Sydnor from The Patrick School (NJ).
