RIVERDALE, N.Y. — Manhattan Men's Basketball Head Coach John Gallagher has announced the signing of incoming junior guard Dasean Lewis on Friday morning.
"Dasean's character is through the roof, and that's where it starts for us," said Gallagher.
The 5-11 guard makes the jump from his home state of Kansas to the bright lights of New York City to join the Green and White after a successful two-year stint at Garden City Community College.
Joining the Broncbusters out of Hugoton High School in 2024-25, Lewis played a pivotal role for Garden City, with four starts in his 26 appearances on the season. He posted a 45 percent shooting clip, while logging a 36.6 percentage total from distance in 41 total opportunities.
From the free-throw line, Lewis converted 19 of his 27 attempts to log a 70.4 percent clip from the charity stripe with 106 total points.
Lewis averaged 16.3 minutes-per-game, while grabbing 45 rebounds, dishing out 23 assists, logging 18 steals, and blocking two in his inaugural collegiate season.

In the victory over Coffeyville Community College on February 8, 2025, Lewis logged a double-digit performance in 29 minutes on the floor, shooting 5-for-7 from the floor, that included two triples. His defense was on full display with a pair of steals, and a pair of rebounds in the commanding victory.
Just seven days prior in what was Lewis' fourth start of his freshman year, he posted a then-career high 14 points in 42 minutes on the floor, while recording a 5-for-9 afternoon, and another two steals in the effort at Colby Community College.
In 2025-26, Lewis stormed onto the scene with 29 starts in 31 appearances, while averaging nearly nine more minutes on the floor than the season before.
The Hugoton product logged nearly ten more points per game with a 13.1 average, while shooting 42.8 percent from the floor, and increased his three point percentage to 39.8 with 66 made triples from beyond-the-arc.
From the charity stripe, Lewis improved mightily converting 109 of 135 total attempts for an 80.7 percent edge. Exactly 10.3 higher than his freshman year.
On the glass, Lewis averaged 2.8 rebounds-per-game, while assisting on 3.4 baskets per game. He also logged 1.6 steals per-game.
In the victory over Dodge City Community College on February 21, Lewis posted a near perfect game in 35 minutes on the floor, with a 9-for-11 clip from the floor, shooting 7-of-8 from distance, converting all eight free-throws attempted, assisted on four baskets, and added one block in a 33-point performance.
At Hugoton High School, Lewis competed on the Varsity Football, Basketball, and Track & Field teams. For basketball, he logged 14.2 points-per-game, while assisting on 2.7 baskets, grabbed nearly four rebounds per-game, and nearly three steals.
In 2023, Lewis was a State Champion, while being named to the Class 4A All-State First Team in 2024. He was also donned 4A-6A Kansas Defensive Player of the Year. In the classroom, he was a member of the National Honor Society.
"He had a big-time sophomore season at Garden City, and now he's home. I'm thrilled he's a Jasper."
This fall, Lewis will pursue a bachelor's degree in finance in Riverdale.
