RIVERDALE, NY — Manhattan Men's Basketball's head coach John Gallagher has announced the Jaspers will play a non-conference game at the University of Miami on Friday, November 20.
"We are excited to take the floor against such a storied ACC program!" said Gallagher.
"Miami is just a few years removed from their historic Final Four appearance, and Coach [Jai] Lucas is using his experience at Duke to try to get there again."
This marks the second-ever meeting between the Hurricanes and the Jaspers, with the former leading the all-time series 1-0 after taking down Manhattan by a score of 79-61 on Saturday, December 28, 1985, inside the teams' former home, The Knight Center.
Additionally, Gallagher's Jaspers will tip off against an ACC opponent for the second time in three seasons after facing the University of Virginia in non-conference competition on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, in Charlottesville, in a 74-65 effort against the Cavaliers.
Against ACC opponents, the Jaspers are 17-56 all-time against current members, with seven victories coming against the Syracuse Orange. Most notably, the Jaspers and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a storied history with a 1996 upset victory inside Madison Square Garden by a score of 65-44 on February 6.
"This game will motivate our team to work even harder over the coming months."
In his career as a Division I Head Coach at both Hartford and Manhattan, John Gallagher sits 2-8 against current ACC foes, facing Boston College three times, with two victories coming against the Eagles. Other teams Gallagher's teams have tipped off against include Louisville, Cal, SMU, and Notre Dame.
Miami is coming off a 26-9 campaign under Head Coach Jai Lucas and saw 15 wins inside the Watsco Center, with 13 victories coming in ACC play. The Hurricanes reached the second Round of the NCAA Tournament after falling to No. 10/11 Virginia in the ACC Tournament Semifinals, before claiming victory against Missouri in the Round of 64 to advance against Purdue.
The Jaspers will open their 2026-27 campaign inside Rupp Arena at the University of Kentucky to take on the Wildcats on Tuesday, November 3.
