RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan baseball alumni Tom Cosgrove was called up to the majors today, joining the San Diego Padres 40-man roster ahead of their game with the Chicago Cubs today, the organization announced today.
Cosgrove pitched three seasons in the Green and White and was a 12th-round selection by the Padres in 2017 after he earned Second Team All-MAAC honors. Cosgrove graduated sixth in career strikeouts with 225. In 2017, Cosgrove was a two-time MAAC Pitcher of the Week and paced the MAAC, and ranked 48th nationally, with 105 strikeouts (11.21/game - 32nd NCAA) while also matching
Chris Cody's single-season record.
This year in Triple-A El Paso, Cosgrove has appeared in seven games, pitching seven innings, yielding no hits, walking four batters and punching out seven.
