Men's Golf Volunteers at Time to Shine Event

WOODLAND PARK, N.J. - Manhattan golf recently volunteered at Night to Shine, an event sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, in which people with special needs can attend an unforgettable prom night experience. The event was on Friday, Feb 10, at St. Ann's Church in Woodland Park, N.J.
 
Every guest of Night to Shine entered this complimentary event on a red carpet, complete with a warm welcome from a friendly crowd and paparazzi. Once inside, guests received the royal treatment, including hair and makeup stations, shoe shining areas, limousine rides, corsages and boutonnieres, a catered dinner, karaoke, prom favors for each honored guest, a respite room for parents and caretakers, and of course, a dance floor, all leading up to the moment when each guest is crowned king or queen of the prom.
 
The men's golf team acted in roles such as Buddies, who are volunteers to help guests with special needs to ensure they enjoy their Prom experience fully. The team also worked in roles such as paparazzi and servers to ensure it was a night to remember.
 
"This is not only a night to remember for the guests," said head coach Keith Prokop, "It is a night in which the volunteers feed off the guests' experience. I look forward to this night every year. I would highly recommend those looking to get involved and help people with special needs that they would consider doing Night to Shine. I was especially thrilled with how the whole team was ecstatic to have an opportunity to help and make a day to remember for the guests of this great event and us."
 
"This experience was amazing as it showed us how important everyone's life is, no matter the circumstance. Being in an environment full of energy and smiles is something we as a team will never forget," said senior Jimmy Escoto.
 
"This being my first experience, I can't express enough how amazing this night truly was, not just for those with special needs but for all the volunteers. This night showed me the difference people can make even in just a couple of hours," explained junior Finbar Bonner.
