ATHENS, GA – The Manhattan Jaspers Men's Golf team competed in the Southern Intercollegiate, hosted by the Bulldogs of the University of Georgia on Monday afternoon at the Athens Golf Club.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Jaspers struggled to open the afternoon, before Cabell Faulkner posted the team's first birdie of the day on the fourth hole.
- Manhattan began to build momentum with four of the five starters posting at least a birdie, including Aidan Talent. Capturing eagle on the par five was Dimitri Mihelakos after double-bogeying the hole before.
- Finishing off the front nine in style was Mandadapu with a birdie to cap off an exceptional start to the Bulldog tournament.
- Out of the midway point, it was Mandadapu again with a two-stroke eagle on the 10th hole, which was a par five.
- Down the stretch of the first 18, Louis Vandeputte and Cabell Faulkner also logged birdies before Mihelakos did the same on the 12th hole. On the 14th hole, Talent posted his second birdie of the opening round.
- Through the second round, the Jaspers grabbed two birdies on the front nine, from Mandadapu on the opening hole, before Faulkner added to the tally with one of his own on the sixth hole.
- On the 10th hole, the Jaspers did it again, with Mandadapu, Faulkner, Talent, and Vandeputte all sinking birdies.
- Wrapping up the afternoon, Mihelakos and Faulkner both sank par on holes 14 and 15, respectively, before netting par the remainder of the way.
