Team Effort Fuels Men's Golf to Eighth Place Finish at Shark Invitational

4/14/2026 9:02:00 PM

GLEN COVE, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers Men's Golf team competed in The Shark Invitational, hosted by LIU from Nassau Country Club on Monday and Tuesday afternoons.

The tournament also represented the program's annual "Senior Day" and recognized Dimitri Mihelakos after the invitational had closed.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Jaspers started the morning with Akshay Mandadapu sinking a birdie on three, after settling for par to open the first two holes.
  • After Louis Vandeputte sank a double bogey on the second hole of the first round, he then bounced back for five pars and one birdie through the remainder of the front nine.
  • With the greens fast on the scorcher of a Monday morning, Aidan Talent also sank par on four of the first nine holes, which included a birdie on the third hole.
  • On the back nine of the first round, Mandadapu, Vandeputte, Talent, and Faulkner all were able to take advantage of their birdie opportunities.
  • Mandadapu finished the first round one under par with a 69.
  • In the second round, the Jaspers found their rhythm and stabilized their pace, with six birdies in the front nine, propelled by Mandadapu's pair on the third and ninth holes. Cabell Faulkner did the same on holes four and nine.
  • The back nine of the second round for the Green and White was a bit more turbulent with a quartet of double bogeys, but five birdies kept the Jaspers within range, fueled by Walter Carley's pair of birdies on the back side.
  • During the third round, Faulkner's red-hot round supplied the Jaspers with a top ten finish, with five birdies, including three to close out the round on the back nine.
  • Louis Vandeputte bounced back on the back side, capitalized by a 15th hole eagle on the Par Five to finish the back nine two under par.
  • To finish the tournament, Mandadapu rounded out the field with a birdie on the ninth green.

QUOTES FROM THE JASPERS

Head Coach Keith Prokop: "Very exciting times for Jasper's Golf. We are showing good results without all of us firing on all cylinders at the same time. We are all capable of a great number, just haven't done it at the same time yet. The MAAC is when I believe we bring it all together, as we have a lot of guys who love these moments."

NEXT UP

The Jaspers finish out their 2025-26 season in the Sunshine State on Tuesday, April 28, and Wednesday, April 29, when the Green and White take part in the 2026 MAAC Men's Golf Championships from Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista.
