Miletic, Curran Bring Home Top MAAC Honors

EDISON, N.J. - The Manhattan Volleyball team earned a pair of top honors today as announced by the release of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Mauro Miletic was named the MAAC Coach of the Year, while freshman Mikalah Curran was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year.

Mauro's Coach of the Year honor is just the second in Manhattan history and the first since 2010, when Mark Jones earned the accolade. Miletic guided his Jaspers to eight more wins than the year prior, including a five-match win streak near the end of MAAC play.

Curran became only the second Jasper in school history and the first since Sydney Volovski in 2012 to be named the MAAC Rookie of the Year. She was also named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team. Curran finished her freshman campaign averaging 2.99 kills per set and collecting 27 service aces and 17 assists. She was second on the team in points (309.0) and points per set (3.40). In MAAC play, Curran had 3.60 points per set and 3.13 kills per set.

Junior outside hitter Maike Bertens picked up All-MAAC Second Team honors. She competed in 26 matches, leading the squad in points with 322.5. She led the team and averaged 4.13 points per set, 3.73 kills per set, and 21.0 blocks. During MAAC play, Bertens recorded 4.75 points per set and 4.33 kills per set.
