BUFFALO, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Volleyball team (2-9, 0-2 MAAC) fell to the Golden Griffins of Canisius University (4-8, 2-0 MAAC) in straight sets (17-25, 16-25, 14-25) inside the Koessler Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Looking to bounce back were the Jaspers just a few miles south of yesterday's match in its journey back southbound.
- Manhattan fell into an eight-point deficit before posting four out of the next six points by way of the service line for Emma Francesconi, who also logged one kill throughout the run.
- After trailing by nine mid-way through the first set, the Jaspers then added six of the next eight points to narrow the Griffins' lead to just five.
- Once the Jaspers opened the second set by taking advantage of a Canisius attacking error, the Golden Griffins were able to bounce back with six of the next 10 points. The Green and White tied the match at six capitalizing off another Griffins' error.
- At 17-14 in the second set, Katie Powers served a commanding ace to quiet the crowd and narrow the deficit to just two.
- Out of the second set, the Jaspers jumped ahead, before Canisius took a strangle hold of the final stanza.
- Manhattan was able to stop the bleeding with five of the next six points after trailing by nine points at 13-4.
STATS AND NOTES
- Freshman right side Hanna Kaczynska posted a team high six kills on 25 attempts, with one set assist and one block.
- Freshman outside hitter Emma Francesconi logged three kills on 12 attempts, with a team high three aces, and six digs.
- Sophomore outside hitter Fiona VanDyke registered two kills on 15 attempts, one ace, one block, and six digs.

The Green and White are back in action on Tuesday, September 30, when the Jaspers head to New Rochelle to face the Gaels of Iona University inside the Hynes Athletic Center for a 6 p.m. opening serve. The match can be viewed with a paid subscription on ESPN+.
