EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has announced that Manhattan Jaspers' freshman outside hitter
Emma Francesconi has been named Jersey Mike's Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week, per release on Tuesday afternoon.
"We're thrilled to hear Emma was named Rookie of the Week!" exclaimed head coach
Mauro Miletic. "She was brought in to help control our serve receive and defense but to see her shine offensively this weekend was great. We expect to see more good things come from her this season!"
The Viareggio, Italy native put together a career afternoon against the Rams of the University of Rhode Island, with a career high 14 kills on 26 attempts, for a .500 hitting percentage, while adding 10 digs to her ledger to post her first collegiate double double.
On Friday against FDU, Francesconi added four kills on 13 attempts, while adding four digs and a block in the effort against the Knights.
The Green and White are back in action on Friday, September 26, when the Jaspers play head to Western New York to face the Purple Eagles of Niagara University for a 6 PM opening serve. The match can be viewed with a paid subscription on ESPN+.
