TEANECK, NJ – Manhattan Women's Volleyball (1-7) fell to the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson (4-7) in straight sets (14-25, 21-25, 16-25) inside Bogota Savings Bank Center on Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Manhattan's first five points all came from different hands, with Helenn Montilla, Fiona VanDyke, Hanna Kaczynska, Abby Morreale, and Emma Francesconi all contributing.
- Two runs of four or more consecutive points from the Knights helped FDU take the first set 25-14.
- After a 7-0 FDU run late in the second dance, the Jaspers responded right back with six unanswered of their own, capped off by a kill from Katie Powers.
- VanDyke's service ace gave Manhattan an early advantage, becoming the Green and White's lone lead in any set.
STATS AND NOTES
- The Jaspers won the block battle, more than doubling FDU's three with seven.
- Junior outside hitter Katie Powers and Freshman middle blocker Helenn Montilla tied for the team lead in kills (5).
- Junior setter Emilia Kuzniar spread the ball around with 17 assists, her third time breaking the 15 threshold this season.
- Sophomore outside hitter Fiona VanDyke led the way with 12 digs.
