KENSINGTON, Conn. – Manhattan shot even par as a team on Saturday in Round One of the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate at Shuttle Meadow Country Club. After the first round, the Jaspers sit in ninth.
Sacred Heart leads the team standings after posting an 11-under 273. Kevin Lydon of La Salle had the low round on Saturday, firing an 11-under 61.
David Mlynek carded a bogey-free three-under 68 to pace the Jaspers. Mlynek birdied his first hole of the day and preceded to card two more—holes eight and 13.
Colby Norton was also under par for the Jaspers on Saturday. The junior recorded a two-under-par 69. Norton birdied the second and third holes after bogeying the first. Norton also birdied two holes on the back nine.
Mlynek sits in a tie for eighth, and Norton is T16 after the 18 holes on Saturday.
Jimmy Escoto shot a one-under 33 on the back nine to shoot an opening round 72 (+1) on Saturday. Escoto birdied the par-3 13
th and pared the other eight holes on the back nine.
Max Levine finished Saturday at 75 (+4). The junior closed his round with a birdie on the par-5 18
th.
Escoto finished Saturday in T35 and Levine in T79.
Manhattan and the rest of the field return to Shuttle Meadow on Sunday for round two of the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate.
