RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Junior co-captain Megan Yarusso (Brewster, N.Y. / Brewster) was named to the All-MAAC Second Team for her outstanding season in 2015. After being named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team as a freshman in 2013, the midfielder has now been selected to the league's second team in consecutive years.
After a stellar sophomore campaign, in which Yarusso set a career high in goals, with 18 in just 12 games, she continued along the same path as a junior. She set career bests in goals (34), assists (11) and points (45). Serving as a team leader, she played a vital role in the Manhattan midfield and displayed her versatility on both sides of the ball. She ranked among the top five on the team in ground balls (20), and finished third on the squad with 12 caused turnovers.
Yarusso was also named to the MAAC All-Academic Team for the second season. In order to achieve this honor, players must have completed at least two semesters at their undergraduate institutions and hold a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. Seven other Jaspers also earned that distinction, in seniors Donna Jo DiNorcia (Verona, N.J. / Verona), Christina Fiorinelli (Massapequa, N.Y. / Massapequa) and Caitlin Hynes (Mahopac, N.Y. / Mahopac), juniors Kaitlyn Cunningham (Spring Lake, N.J. / Red Bank Catholic) and Casey Silvestri (Pomona, N.Y. / Albertus Magnus) and sophomores Carly Cummings (Owings, Md. / Northern) and Lindsay Geoghan (Bayport, N.Y. / Bayport-Blue Point).
