LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Manhattan Jaspers women's lacrosse team (2-9, 1-1 MAAC), took home the victory in their first MAAC road game against the Broncs of Rider (1-10, 0-2 MAAC) by a final score of 17-9 at Ben Cohen Field on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It took only 15 seconds for Ella Brunette to find the back of the net to break the ice in favor of the visitors, giving the Jaspers an early 1-0 edge.
- Julia Kerr and Lauren Maher joined the party with Brunette for the next trio of scores, stretching the margin to four by the time the first five minutes had passed.
- Despite some counterattacks from the Broncs, Brooke Leonard captured the fifth and final goal of the opening frame for Manhattan to go into the second up 5-3.
- Brunette kept up with the quick tallies, putting another one on the board less than 40 seconds after the start of play.
- The usual pair of Kerr and Brunette held down the scoring portion for the Green and White through the first half, as both added another to their totals for an 8-6 advantage headed into the halftime break.
- Maher scored back-to-back goals for the Jaspers to open the second half of action, making her the second Manhattan player with a hat trick as soon as midway through the third quarter.
- Newcomer Logan Pilon put herself in the scoring column by the end of the frame, with the road team up by six going into the final 15 minutes.
- Pilon added two more in the fourth, putting the icing on the cake for Manhattan's first conference win.
STATS AND NOTES
- Freshman midfielder Ella Brunette and Senior attacker Lauren Maher led the way in scoring with four goals apiece. That is Brunette's second highest total in a game this season, and Maher's new career-high.
- Freshman attacker Logan Pilon was the third Jasper with a hat trick on the day with three goals, her first career hat trick.
- Senior defender Naomi Aristone caused the most turnovers for Manhattan with three.
- Sophomore attacker Ella Hirsch scored her second goal of the season, and first since Feb. 11 at Hofstra.
- Junior midfielder Audrey Ziff won the most draw controls with five.
- Redshirt Junior goalkeeper Sophie Pasnak logged six saves through a full 60 minutes.

Manhattan will continue its 2026 campaign on Saturday, March 28 when the Jaspers take the road again to continue the conference slate, this time squaring off against the Bobcats from Quinnipiac.
