RIVERDALE, N.Y. – After helping the Jaspers sweep the Canisius-Niagara trip for the first time since 2002 and move into first place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), Manhattan College freshman Allie Yamashiro (Kapolei, Hawaii) has been named MAAC Libero of the Week. She averaged 3.90 digs per set in the two five-set victories.
In the win over Niagara on Saturday, Yamashiro tallied 20 digs to go along with five assists and two service aces. She then registered 19 digs, six assists and two aces on Sunday, as Manhattan rallied from two sets down to knock off Canisius.
This marks the third time Yamashiro has been recognized this season. She previously earned Libero of the Week honors on Sept. 3 and again on Sept. 16. Yamashiro currently ranks fourth in the MAAC in digs, averaging 4.44 per set.
The Jaspers (12-7, 6-1 MAAC) return to action on Saturday, when they begin a four-match homestand with a 1 p.m. contest against Iona (6-11, 4-3 MAAC). Manhattan will play eight of its next nine matches in Riverdale.
