2010 NBA D-League Draft Results
RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Former Manhattan College basketball standouts Rico Pickett (Decatur, Ala.) and Antoine Pearson (Bronx, N.Y.) were selected in the 2010 NBA Development League Draft on Monday. Pickett, the 2010 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference scoring leader, was taken in the Fourth Round by the Dakota Wizards. Pearson, a 1,000-point scorer who earned a bachelor's degree in communication last May, was picked by the Springfield Armor in the Eighth Round.
Pickett averaged 17.7 points during the 2009-2010 campaign and earned All-MAAC Third Team honors. The 6'4" guard led the Jaspers in scoring 19 times and recorded double-figures in 27 of 29 appearances. Pickett posted 20+ points on 10 occasions and poured in 30+ points twice, including a career-high 33 points in a MAAC Tournament victory over Loyola. Pickett was sixth in the conference with a 44% field goal percentage and ranked in the top-15 in steals (1.3 per game) and 3-point field goal percentage (33.3%).
Pearson became just the 32nd player in the program's illustrious 105 year history to join the 1,000-point club. The former All-MAAC and All-Metropolitan selection finished his career with 1,123 points. The four year letterwinner from the Bronx was just the fourth Manhattan player to score 1,000 points and dish out 250 assists since joining the MAAC. Pearson finished his career with a 41% field goal percentage, 36 % 3-point percentage and 70% free-throw percentage.
Five previous NBA Draft picks were selected in the First Round of the 10th NBA D-League Draft. The Reno Bighorns selected Nick Fazekas, a 6'11" power forward from the University of Nevada, Reno, with the first overall pick.
