Manhattan Releases 2010 Men's Lacrosse Schedule

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - A nationally televised season opener and seven home contests at Gaelic Park highlight the 2010 Manhattan College men's lacrosse schedule, which was unveiled today by Head Coach Tim McIntee.  The Jaspers open the season at No. 8 Johns Hopkins in a game that will be nationally televised on ESPNU.  Manhattan also hosts six-time national champion Princeton for the first time in program history as a part of the 15-game slate.

The Jaspers begin the 2010 campaign on Feb. 20, when they visit perennial national power Johns Hopkins in a contest that will be televised live on ESPNU.  Manhattan plays the first of seven games at Gaelic Park against Robert Morris on Feb. 26, then heads to Sacred Heart for a March 6 meeting.  Princeton, which is ranked No. 4 in the preseason, makes its first appearance in Riverdale on March 9 before the Jaspers head south for a Spring Break matchup at Presbyterian on March 15.

Manhattan kicks off Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play at Gaelic Park against conference newcomer Detroit on March 20, then visits Canisius on March 27.  After hosting MAAC rival VMI on April 3, the Jaspers finish off non-conference play with a pair of games against teams ranked in the Preseason Top 20.  Manhattan visits No. 9 Hofstra on April 6 before ending non-conference play against No. 20 Villanova at Gaelic Park on April 10.

Manhattan's final five regular season contests are MAAC games, starting with an April 17 matchup at Mount St. Mary's.  The Jaspers defeated the Mountaineers in the semifinals of last season's MAAC Tournament.  Following the Mount St. Mary's game, Manhattan heads home for a showdown against Wagner on April 21.  Mount St. Mary's and Wagner are each in their final season as MAAC members before leaving to join the Northeast Conference next season.  The Jaspers conclude their home schedule with a Senior Day meeting with Saint Joseph's on April 24.  Manhattan visits Marist on April 28, and wraps up the regular season by visiting defending MAAC champion Siena on May 1.  The Saints beat Manhattan in last season's MAAC Championship Game.

The Jaspers hope to return to Marist's Poughkeepsie campus for the MAAC Tournament on May 7-9.  Manhattan is looking to make its third straight appearance in the event, which features the top four teams in the final conference standings.
