Riverdale, N.Y. ? The Manhattan College Volleyball team has released their upcoming schedule for the 2007 season which include some competitive tournaments and non-conference match ups.
The Lady J's will kick off their season at the University of Connecticut on August 25. They will continue their Connecticut road trip by playing at the University of Hartford on the 26th of August. Manhattan will then come home to participate in the Jasper Invitational at Draddy Gynmasium. The Lady Jaspers will kick off the tournament on Friday August 31, against the University of Arkansas-Little Rock. On September 1, the Lady Jaspers will take on Maryland-Eastern Shore at 2:00 PM followed by a 4:00 PM contest against Seton Hall University. On September 5, Fairleigh Dickinson University will come to Riverdale to compete against Manhattan.
Manhattan will then go across the country to compete in the Sacramento State Invitational, which will take place September 7-8. The team will start off by playing Cal State Northridge University on the 7th, followed by two games on the 8th against Sacramento State University and Oregon State University. The Lady Jaspers will then come back to the Bronx for a three game home stand starting with Fordham University on September 12, Marist College on September 15 and finishing up with Fairfield University, the MAAC's preseason favorite. The Lady J's will then travel to compete against Rider University on September 22 and St. Peter's College on Sepetember 23. On September 26, Manhattan will face Columbia University in a home game. The team will finish out the month of September with two road games. On September 29, Manhattan will meet Canisius College for the first time since the heartbreaking loss to the Golden Griffs in the third place game of the MAAC Championship Tournament. The last game of the month will take place on September 30 against Niagara University.
October starts off with a bang as they continue their road trip at Sacred Heart University on October 3. That game is then followed by two more road games on October 6 at Loyola College and on October 7 at local rival Iona College. The Lady Jaspers will then start a four game home stand that kicks off with a match against Iona on October 13. Siena College will the make the trip to Draddy as they will match up with Manhattan on October 14. The last two home games of October will be played on the 20th against Rider and the 21st against Saint Peter's. Manhattan will end October with two road games, October 27 at Marist College and October 28 against the defending MAAC Champions, Siena.
November 3 is a home game against Loyola followed by an away game at Fairfield on November 4. The Lady Jaspers will close out their regular season with two home games on November 10, against Niagara, and November 11th against Canisius.
The 2007 MAAC Championship Tournament will take place at Fairfield on November 17-18.
