Riverdale, N.Y. (July 13, 2006)-For the third straight year, the
Jewish Sports Review, a Los Angeles-based publication, has named Manhattan's
Molly Pheterson (Rochester, N.Y.) to its Women's College (D-I) All-America Lacrosse Team. Pheterson, who recently graduated from Manhattan in May, was one of only three seniors to occupy one of the team's 11 spots; the other two seniors are Shari Maslin of Penn State University and Rachel Prowler of Bucknell University.
Pheterson earns the honor after a season during which she started all 16 games at attack and led the Lady Jaspers in goals with 35. Pheterson, whose efforts helped Manhattan qualify for the four-team MAAC Tournament for the third consecutive season, earned her third consecutive All-MAAC selection in early May, being named to the All-MAAC Second Team.
Prior to her senior campaign, Pheterson was a vital piece of Manhattan's Back-to-Back MAAC Championships in 2004 and 2005; she was named to the All-MAAC First Team during both seasons. In addition to graduating with two conference championship rings, she also has the honor of being one of the program's most prolific scorers of all-time. She ends her career with the fourth most goals (108) in Lady Jasper history and also sits in sixth place on the team's all-time points list with 122.
