Riverdale, N.Y. (September 6, 2005)--Manhattan senior middle hitter
Maggie Pfeifer was named MAAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending on September 4, it was announced today by the conference.
Pfeifer, who was a 2005 Pre-Season All-MAAC First Team selection, helped her team win their season opener by hitting .536 with 15 kills in a three-game sweep of Wofford College at the second annual Jasper Invitational. Pfeifer went on to add 13 kills against American University in the championship game of the tournament, and she earned a spot on the All-Tournament team for her efforts. For the week, Pfeifer hit a staggering .472 with 4.67 kills per game.
Pfeifer and the Lady Jaspers continue regular season play tonight when they travel to Jamaica, Queens to take on St. John's University at 7 p.m. Manhattan will also be in action on September 9 and 10 at the UConn Toyota Classic in Storrs, Conn.
