RIDING A THREE-MATCH WIN STREAK, VOLLEYBALL WELCOMES ST. FRANCIS TO DRADDY GYM TONIGHT

Riverdale, N.Y. (October 5, 2005)--Riding a three-match winning streak, Manhattan Volleyball returns to Draddy Gym to play its first home match in over a month. The Lady Jaspers (7-10, 0-0 MAAC) square off against the St. Francis College Terriers (0-19, 0-0 NEC) at 7:00 p.m.

Manhattan is fresh off of its impressive showing at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore Invitational this past weekend, in which the Lady J's captured the tournament title en route to their longest win streak since their 2003 MAAC Championship Season.

Senior middle hitter Maggie Pfeifer won the tournament's MVP Honors, and then went on to garner MAAC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday for the third time this season. The Missouri native averaged 4.31 kills per game last week, and she currently sits atop the MAAC Kills Leader board for the 2005 season.

In addition to Pfeifer, several Lady Jaspers look to continue their solid play of late when they meet struggling St. Francis tonight. Senior outside hitter Megan O'Dorisio has posted double-doubles in five out of the previous six matches, while sophomore outside hitter Ashley Watson is coming off of a week in which she recorded her first double-double of the season with 11 kills and 15 digs in a win over Delaware State University at the UMES Invitational. Watson followed that performance up by pounding out 17 kills to go with nine digs in the tournament finale against Coppin State University.

The Terriers counter the Lady J's with senior outside hitter Lydia Ann Harris, who leads SFC in both kills (2.05/game) and digs (2.19/game).

Following the battle with St. Francis, Manhattan travels southwest to the Garden State to participate in the FDU Invitational this upcoming weekend in Teaneck, N.J. The Lady J's open play at the tournament when they face host Fairleigh Dickinson on October 7 at 6:00 p.m.
