PHILADELPHIA, PA (August 30, 2002) - The Manhattan College volleyball team kicked off the 2002 season losing three games to one against Towson University and winning three games to none to Siena College this afternoon at the La Salle University Tournament held in Philadelphia, PA today.
In the first match of the day against the Tigers, seniors
Lauren Belcher (Huntington Beach, CA) and
Amy O'Dorisio (San Diego, CA) led the Lady J's with 13 kills apiece, while junior transfer
Goedele "Luka" Van Cauteren (Oetingen, Belgium) followed with 12 kills and 22 assists.
Manhattan swept Siena three games to none in the afternoon match to bring the Lady Jaspers to a 1-1 overall record. Van Cauteren dominated the court with 10 kills, 19 assists and eight digs. Junior transfer
Krista Thorsen (New City, NY) followed with eight kills and 12 digs.
The Lady Jaspers will continue play tomorrow, August 31st when they face tournament host La Salle at 12pm and Fairleigh Dickinson University at 4:30pm.
