GOEDELE 'LUKA' VAN CAUTEREN NAMED MAAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

EDISON, NJ (October 21, 2002) - For the second consecutive week, Manhattan College volleyball player Goedele 'Luka' Van Cauteren (Oetingen, Belgium) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week ending October 20, 2002, announced today by conference officials.

Van Cauteren recorded two triple-doubles last week in the victories over Fairleigh Dickinson and Villanova. In the three games to one win over the Knights, the junior setter totaled 16 kills, a career-high 32 assists, and 11 digs. In the three games to one win over the Wildcats, she had 14 kills, 19 assists and 11 digs. The computer science major totaled 30 kills, 51 assists and 22 digs for the week.

The Manhattan College volleyball team is currently 20-1, 2-0 MAAC and with the win over Villanova it is 4-0 this season against BIG EAST schools. The Lady Jaspers have also extended the school's consecutive win streak to 20. Manhattan is tied with Eastern Washington for the longest active winning streak in Division I after winning 20 consecutive matches this season.

The Lady Jaspers return to action tomorrow evening when they travel to New Rochelle for a 7:00 PM matchup with the Iona Gaels.
