EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) released the Northeast Beef MAAC Baseball Weekly Award Winners, which included Jaspers graduate catcher Andreaus Lewis, who was named Player of the Week, per release on Tuesday afternoon.
"Dre's leadership and energy have been the foundation of our program for two years now," said Head Coach Steven Rosen.
"Couldn't be prouder of the type of captain he has turned into and overall person that he is. You can't put a number or stat on the difference he has made since coming into our program three years ago. Very proud of him and his impact that goes beyond just his great play on the field."
The Atlanta, GA product gave the Green and White a much-needed boost over the last week, which saw the Jaspers go 3-1. Lewis put together a hitting streak that still stands heading into the Stony Brook game this afternoon at five games, combining for an 8-for-17 mark from the plate.
Additionally, Lewis crossed the plate four times, added seven RBIs, two doubles, two home runs, one walk, and one strikeout.
Lewis now sits with five round trippers and a .343 batting average, which ranks eighth in the MAAC this season.
After the contest at Stony Brook this afternoon, the Jaspers are back in action for a three-game set and resume conference play on Friday, April 17, when the Green and White visit the Broncs of Rider University beginning at 3 p.m. inside Sonny Pittaro Field. The three-game series can be viewed on BroncsVision for free.
