NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Manhattan Jaspers Baseball team (10-13, 4-7 MAAC) was blanked by the Warriors of Merrimack College (11-12, 6-5 MAAC) by a score of 14-0 at the Greater Lawrence Technical School Baseball Field on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the top of the second inning, Trevor Hansen sent a two-out two-bagger down the left field line to jump-start the bats for the Green and White.
- With one out in the fourth inning, Hunter Sute followed suit with a double down the right field line.
- In the seventh inning, the Jaspers attempted to start the clogged engine by taking advantage of a Warrior miscue, after Colin Basehore reached first on a throwing error by the third baseman to open the inning.
- He then advanced to third on a wild pitch on Ryan Lordier's plate appearance.
- In the next inning, Andreaus Lewis sent a base knock down the right field line, before Justin Best posted a single up the middle to send Payton Matthews to second.
STATS AND NOTES
- Designated Hitter Andreaus Lewis logged a 1-for-3 afternoon and worked one walk on the day.
- Catcher Hunter Sute also posted a 1-for-4 day, with a double and struck out once.
- Infielder Trevor Hansen registered a 1-for-3 day, with a double, one walk, and struck out twice.
- Relief pitcher Matthew Steinberg struck out a game high four in 2.1 innings of work, while surrendering one walk and four hits.
